how to have wi-fi without buying the 100 ...

I am surprised no one thougt of this yet. you don't ned the add-on to have wireless internet on your xbox. All you need is to buy a wireless router( costs around 40$ on amazon) and place it near your xbox so that you can connect them with a normal ethernet cable. If you already have wireless internet in your house then you need to buy another router of the same type so they can communicate with each other, or you can move your existing router near your xbox and then buy usb wireless adapters for your pcs if its cheaper. If you don't have wireless internet then use the same method explained above. This should be much cheaper then using the microsoft add on. i hope this thread was helpful, i would just to see people waste 70$-60$. i think a thread like this should be a sticky, not necessarily mine, maybe someone could re-wright this in a better, clearer way.how to have wi-fi without buying the 100 ...

Or if you have a laptop, use that as a gateway between your router and 360.

buy the original xbox wifi adapter... its 40 bucks and it works with the 360...
Or you could take the really cheap way out and buy a usb wifi adapter for like $10 online and plug that into the usb slot on the back of your 360. It's what I did and works just fine.

is your wireless secure or unsecure..my friend tried to do that, but unless he was using an unsecured wireless connection it will not work.

Why doesn't microsoft tell us this :/

[/QUOTE] i think that if you have two routers of the same exact kind it will work regardless of secure or non secure. but i am not sure. and i didn't know that you can use any usb adapter, wow, why the hell don't microsoft tell us that!?
i really couldnt make heads or tails of what you said but yeah your late you can always use your pc or laptaop as a gateway and spen 0$ i winz

Actually, what you want is called a bridge or acces point. It allows you to plug in ethernet or other things and then it'll connect to your existing network and also usually extend that network. Two routers won't usually work because they're not meant to talk to each other. They're meant to broadcast, not receive per se. Although technically they do receive... Just don't buy two routers :D
pointless info. as if people didnt know if you move the router closer you can use a wire. people who can move they router dont need wireless in the first place. its for people who cant move it. and buying another router and having 2 routers in the same house is just as pointless and most people wont have the capability to setup the routing from the second router to the first to get a open nat anyways. suggestions like this for people who aint technically minded is just going to cause a bad latency and lag until its setup properly. might as well do things properly. no home shud need 2 routers thats false economy.
ok, sorry people in my house i used as a ''bridge'' or ''switch'' not sure what its called, but the guy at the shop said that they wwere the same price and it is better to use onother router. and creeping death, i don't know why you are trying to insult me, i really don't think you understood my post. what i said was to buy another router a new one and put it next to your xbox so it will be close to your xbox. i didn't just say connet your xbox to your router.Djrobst can't the technician set it up, for them?
ohh and thanks darth for the good info.

Can you provide a link to the adapter that you are using?
I gave my sister's boyfriend ?0 and he gave me a bridge and set it up for me. It was fairly simple to set up, works well and was cheap! There's really no need to spend so much for the Microsoft add on and I think everyone knows that by now.
