Aren't those just the same ones that would download anyway if you were on Live? If so, then it's safe.O.S. Software Updates..
There should be no problem but if it is a fairly new console, then it should have a recent update. So, attempting to install an older update will do nothing.
actually this console was won in a contest by the person I purchased it from..its Xbox360 Core..looks like 2006 model, not sure when CORE model was introduced..but it was brand new when I took it out of the box..
If the system prompts you to update when you sign on Xbox Live, you should update it.
