Halo 3 and the Banhammer

Recently, i was stupid enough to download hacked pictures from peoples file shares, and put them on mine. Yesterday, i popped in Halo 3 and got a message that i was permanently banned from matchmaking and use of the file share. Of course i was pissed. A permanent ban from the file share seems harsh, but fair. On the other hand, how is a hacked picture worth a permanent matchmaking ban? Thoughts?Halo 3 and the Banhammer

they discused this topic on bungie.net. and you got banned because you renamed it and put it on your file share, they said that you can download the hacked screenshots but once you put them on your file share the system they have for finding the hacks thinks you created them since they are in your file share. and from what i remember you cant ask to be unbanned even if you didnt do the hacking.

hey i did the exact same thing cause the picture was so random and funny that i put it up in my fileshare and a week later i get this message saying that i had been permantly banned from fileshare its **** as it wasnt even my photo. They didnt even send me a warning message and i didnt think it would make that big of a deal. I sent bungie a message and i gt a auto response saying that your message probably wont be read..read the forums for help or sumthin...have u have ur ban lifted yet im really pissed of bout mineplease write backSmythy93
Dang.Well, you choose download... You could have choose not to. And you were wanred many a timeAt least it's not a matchmaking ban.
Sucks, almost happened to me once, except not really because I was just too quick. Well don't be sad, think of this as a lesson learned.
