The wireless adapter is expensive. You could just buy a really long ethernet cable. I got one cheap at Best Buy.

Youtube video showing how to send USB through phone lines, its what I do.

I would suggest getting a long Ethernet cable.

longer ethernet cable?if u dont want it sticking out run it thru the wall if u dont know maby your parents friends know how or even maby your internet provider will do it just charging a servis fee for coming
my router and modem are in my bedroom and my xbox is on the other side of my house ,all you need is the xbox wireless adapter,it just plugs into your xbox in the back.
... or if u have a laptop, u can use it. then connect an ethernet cable from the laptop to the xbox and voila. in case it doesnt work for u, go on youtube and search how to do it and ull see how easy it is.
1-> longer ethernet cable2-> wireless adaptor3-> put the xbox inside the same room as the router4-> put the router inside the same room as the xbox
I had the same problem as you. The only thing I could was get a really long ethernet cable that runs from the middle floor all the way to the basement.....xD

I have a similar problem, but my 360 is in my BASEMENT while my WIRED modem is upstairs. I was going to get a long ethernet cable, but the longer they are, the less efficient. This will drag your internet speed down quite a bit. It's time for me to go wireless anyway. I'm getting a router and the 360 wireless adapter... Even if it doesn't last long or something, it's only $30... nice.

You just set it up as an AP client, assign it an IP, subnet, gateway on your network, plug your xbox into it, then your xbox should be able to acquire an address from your wireless router.
buy a 40ft ethernet cable, i got mine from bestbuy and i had it since i had my original xbox till my 360
