Whats the big deal with this??

Can someone explain to me why Saints Row 2 is such a big deal? Why does everyone defend this game so forcefully? Ive seen my fair share of gameplay videos, and it looks a lot like the first. Some people are saying its oing to be better than GTa games. I definitley cannot see this being possible. I just want someone to tell me what is so amazing about this game compared to the first (which i happened to like until I played GTA 4).Whats the big deal with this??
Well fine if you like GTA 4 a choir of a game to play then that is up to you. If your idea of fun is taking your friends out to a bar in a game then you have no life. Also GTA IV was fun but got boring and to serious. SAINTS ROW GOTS ALIEN SHIPS WOOOOOOTWhats the big deal with this??

i think peope over hype it. i played the first one it was alright i didn't realy like it. people think that it is better then gta 4 because saints row is newer game to come out like that type of game.
For me, GTA IV was a hell of a game no doubt but it got too serious and shyed away from the old GTA formula. Saints Row 2 is some thing that isn't as serious as it needs to be. It has a huge open world, every thing is customizable (gangs, vehicles, characters, your hide-out) It has over 15 mini games (fight club, a zombie type game, monster truck rally, base jumping), it has complete story co-op online, it has improved combat and interactive enviorments (meaning you can walk into stores and rob them at any time, rip a stop sign off and use it to bash your foe), it has great storyline, has a ton of side missions to do, and its just a good old fashion fun. It is serious when it needs too but isn't too over the top at the same time. This is why I am anticipating the game.
Erm? Because it's fun to play unlike some games? I think that's enough yeah? Seriously, the game has been a blast, not saying GTA wasn't but as said above it's way too serious for me. GTA San Andreas I played non stop...but with GTA 4 I can't even force myself to beat it. Saints Row 2 takes a step away from that and puts it on the less serious, more fun type.
