I talked to a guy I work with at Best Buy and he said I could just hook my 360 up to my laptop via USB and put all my saved content in a file, and then when I buy a Pro 60GB I can transfer it right back.Anyone done this or know about it? It seems a lot easier than making trips with a memory stick. Transfer content from 20GB to 60GB using ...

I'm not totally sure how that would work out, though I think it's possible. What I'm planning to do is to get a Xbox 360 60GB Live Starter Pack for 99 bucks and then use a transfer cable to get everything back from my old 20gb harddrive.
It may work, but I think it's easier to use the transfer cable you get with the Elite. If you call MS and tell them you bought a new hard drive I'm sure they'll ship you one or so I've heard.
No it will not work, the USB ports are read only, you cannot save data to a flash drive or external HDD using the USB ports on the 360. Sorry bud. Just get the transfer cable its the only option outside of using a memory card. Which is a bad idea sicne I think the transfer cable also transfers licences for DLC over to the new HDD so you wont always have to signed into live to access DLC.
you can also use a memory card for your game saves .. music can be ripped back in via cd if the usb thing dont work ,, also you recover your xbox live tag through their servers all you do is then re download everything you dled before , , it is free to do so ,, so it should work do you got a wireless thing if not then your screwed if its a newer 360 ,, because none of the stuff works unless you transfer it via microsofts xbox website under support ,,thats another way to transfer stuff from one 360 to another, and if you dont got the wireless adapter and you downloaded stuff to a new 360 it will not work unless your onlineand to the one saying the transfer cable transfers the licenses no it doesnt , i have 2 hdds 120 gb 1 20 gb and when i transfered my stuff , i had to still redownload the extra content from live it only transfers your music and game saves, and i still had to be connected to live for it to work , theres a thing on microsofts site now that lets you do it to , so ya theres ways but usb hdd is not one
How do transfer cables work and how can I get one?
