Can't believe Gamestop!

Well, I decided to trade-in my 360 at Gamestop for cash. It's the premium console with 20GB HDD, 1 Wireless controller.... etc. Now I understand that there was a price drop for the 360's, but they expected me to hand over my 'like new' 360 to them for a mere $85... What are they smoking? To make matters worse, I called about 2 weeks ago and I was told it would be roughly $160 and now it's half of that. I just wanted to make this thread so anyone out there thinking about trading stuff in to Gamestop, don't do it!!! You're better off using eBay or something like that or even just keeping the stuff, which I ended up doing... just keeping it. I know they have to make money, but they've gone beyond the reasonable limit to flat out r*ping their customers. Use eBay or sell to a friend, but don't line Gamestops pockets. Another reason I made this thread is to let people know the current going rate for 360 trade-ins at Gamestop. Sorry if this isn't in the correct forum, if it's not in the right place please feel free to move or delete this thread. Take care! Can't believe Gamestop!
Well they're a company and profits their number one priority. I never trade in games to any store nor site. I've never seen the reason for doing it. Buy a game for $60 and trade it back in for like $30. If i wanted to do that i'd just use Gamefly and not own any video games. Can't believe Gamestop!
You didn't know this already that Gamestop (and stores like it) totally screw you? I always sell my stuff on Craigslist and my local online classifieds. I got $150 for my 360 that was a launch system!!! Totally skip the stores if you actually want to get some decent money.
Thanks for the replies guys. Yeah I know they are out to make a profit, but like I said they have completely gone past that reasonable point where doing business with them is made almost impossible to justify. I never trade-in stuff either, nor do I sell it on eBay or Craigslist or anything but I just wanted to put those options out there ot people who don't know about them. Now like I said, even though I don't trade stuff in personally, or sell it for that matter... I always kept track of what the rates were for some games and consoles and right now is by far the worst I've ever seen them offering.
Your just realizing this? haha
well im not surpirsed 360s are dirt cheap now i can swear i saw the 360 used on gamespots website for under 200 buks liek 170 i think which means they are only gonna try and give you half or less then that for the system

Like I said, it's not that I'm just realizing this. I've always know it's a ripoff to sell anything to companies like that. I'm just saying that after keeping tabs on prices for certain things over the course of many years, it seems like right now they're pushing it as far as they possibly can and I just don't want to see some of the more uninformed members here get screwed over by the likes of Gamestop and companies like them.
why would you wanna sell it. im not much of a gamer anymore but its nice to have systems around to kill time. you should keep it anyway.
thanks for the heads up
Of course they don't give you anything. They never have before. I would have gotten around $20 for Mercenaries 2 two weeks after it came out. I sold it on half.com the same day for $41.50.
Like many other people have said, no surprise here. -Ace
A buddy of mine ended up selling a BUNCH of his older games and systems at a pawn shop for more than what Gamestop was offering. A PAWN SHOP! That should show you how screwed up Gamestop is when a freaking pawn shop offers you more money. I still laugh about it.
$85 thats a rip off. good thing you didn't do itI fyou don't mind me asking why would you want to sell your xbox 360?
I traded in my XBox (1) and 10 games to gamestop and got 300 bucks about 6 months after the 360 came out. I had a membership card and a couple of coupons and I caught them on the last day of 3 deals they had going to gain extra money when trading in stuff. So most of the time they are a HUGE ripoff but if you know how to manipulate them you can make some real money.

wow, i knew the trade-in rate was low but GEEEZ you can basically trade in a entire console for a game and a pre-order....that's terrible
Also there cash comes on a gift card you need to spend in store.

So 2 weeks later when you go in expecting the same deal they tell you ''Oh, that was a limited sales special'' then act as if it was common knowledge despite the serious lack of advertising they do for this.
Open up your minds please. The whole ''Oh 25$ for a brand new game you bought a week ago so we can sell it back for $54.99'' scam has been going on for years.
