Hey allI have been recently looking into buying some new games for my xbox 360 (if it continues to work, see the hardware issues sticky thread as I have been having problems to see why). I was looking at getting some new games like Far Cry 2, Command and Conquer Red Alert 3 etc but my friend got some really good deals on older games which supprised me.I am now thinking I may get 1 game on release and the rest I will wait for and whilst I do that I can complete games I have not, get some older titles I missed etc. What are your plans? Will you be buying a load on release or do you recon you may get a couple or even wait for a price drop for the games which usually (not allways, COD4 is still 40 pounds in the UK, I am still waiting for a price drop on it :() happens?Discuss Games - will you be getting them on rele ...
I always get my games near the release date. Sometimes i'll get games that i missed but not to often.Games - will you be getting them on rele ...
yes im getting all games on release but after i get gears 2 i will not be getting the rest of the games in december.
No I won't be buying many games at release for a while.I found a load of great deals on slightly older games which I am still going through, and see no point in spending ?0 on a new game that I won't get round to playing for a couple of months, by which time the price will have dropped considerably. Too Human is a perfect example - released a month ago for ?0, and is already down to ?0.The exception to this is games with a heavy focus on online gameplay. These are usually best in the first few weeks/months after which the servers start emptying either to the latest and greatest FPS to hit the 360, or back to COD, Halo, Gears.
The only game I can buy on release is Far Cry 2 and Left 4 Dead. Everything that comes out inbetween those titles will have to wait till I get back from my vacation.
I'm getting all the games in my Sig as soon as they release. It doesn't take but a month sometimes 2 on a medium hyped game to drop $20 to $25 in value for it used. I'm getting 8 games, but there are several others that will be worth playing to pick up used later. Also you got to take in that there looks to be plenty other good games worth buying releasing Quarter 1 2009. To balance what you can't wait to play %26 what will drop in value quickly on the used game market isn't very hard to do so. With this Army of great games releasing through this holiday season %26 into Quarter 1 2009 you can buy up to 10 games %26 still wait on 10 others.
I only get games Ive REALLY been looking fowrard to. Like fable 2 for examples. Others I prefer to wait til' their first or second pricedrop. One of those games, right now, are civlisation.
I'm just getting gears2 on release. So Fable2 and Fallout 3 will have to wait till at least christmas or later.
I already have Blitz: The League II, Fable II, Far Cry 2, Saints Row 2 and Fallout 3 paid off. So you know i'll be getting those day one!

I will be getting Far Cry 2, Gears of War 2 and Guitar Hero World Tour on release, definitely, and there may still be others too, but it really just depends on how I am feeling :)
was going to get far cry 2 on release.. but with no demo/beta, not much mp info/vids, and such large pre-order bonus.. it worries me, and i think i'll wait a bit.might get world at war if the beta is good.most popular mp games i want, i buy right away.. but stuff with just campaign or poor mp, i can wait and buy cheaper.ones without demo's i usually pass on for a bit too.. if they can't be arsed to give me a little smple of their game, i don't know if i can be arsed to give them my money.
im only getting Gears 2 and Saints Row 2 on release night. everything else ill either wait and see what i get as gifts for my bday and christmas or just wait until i get bored or gears and SR2
unlike many i tend to wait for new ips like gears , etc when their prices drop because at least if i didnt like the game i wont feel as ripped off as i would buying it at 60 ,, i get the ones i knew from the start of gaming almost near release and somtimes at release, eg saints row 2 ,,, i played the first took a chance on that one though and liked it so i know i wont be ripped and gta iv ,,for what it was i still liked it, but rainbow six vegas was one of many games i let the price to drop before i got it, and i didnt really regret it either ,to me it doesnt matter if i got the game at launch as long as used stores and pawns are around i find it, i pick it up for far cheaper then what every one else who rushes into it pays ,heres a good exampleat gamestop they wanted 29,99 new halo 2 which was not at launch but 2 yrs later,, instead of picking it up there i shoped around walked in to a pawn ,,,, payed 2 dollars exactly like new so i knew i was getting somthing good, and for a greater price then i ever imagined or take gta iv i payed 59 at launch but i needed a replacment i found it 20 dollars cheaper used at gamestop so ya , its good to shop especally if its a uknown franchise
The only game I plan on buying on release is Gears of War 2.I don't have enough money to spend on games on day 1 (damn drinking habits), but I'll probably still give Fallout 3, Far Cry 2, and Left 4 Dead a purchase.
Im a pc gamer and 360 gamer. Pc games i have a tendency to buy more on release, because they have a longer lifespan, meaning you can play it a long time from now, not restrained by one console or if its bc, not to mention pc games are normally cheaper at release then console games. All my 360 games i have, ive bought when they went down in price, saved a lot of money like that. Not tonna pay 40 bucks for a game that i maybe wont be able to play on the next xbox, because microsoft is too lazy to bc them.
In the next few months, I'll be getting Gears of War 2 and Call of Duty: WaW on release, then at Christmas get Fallout 3, Far Cry 2 and then either Red Alert 3 or EndWar depending on reviews.
as for games im getting on release date. Fallout3 (already fully payed for) Gears 2 and if i have enough money COD5 *crosses fingers
It's very rare I buy a game on release mainly because I think ?0 is quite a lot on a game. Plus, I usually buy preowned games, I like to have a look through those as I usually find a bargin. However, with all the amazing games coming out I'm sure I'll pick up one of release. Although, Fifa came out last week and I'm going to get that on Friday, so I guess that's near release date.
I CAN'T get any game on release day, but I get them as soon as I see them, and have the money to buy :pWhich is almost always around 1 or 2 weeks after the release.
